Top 5 Fastest Centuries in the IPL

 March 18, 2020     4 comments

The Universe Boss tops the list for his breathtaking knock of 175* off just 66 balls against Pune Warriors in 2013.

2. Yusuf Pathan (100 in 37 Balls)

Yusuf Pathan was unstoppable at his prime in the IPL and his scintillating knock of 100 from 37 balls against Mumbai Indians in 2010 is still one of the popular knocks in IPL history.

3. David Miller (100 in 38 Balls)

The knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore changed things around for Miller as he played an outstanding match-winning knock of 101* off just 38 balls.

4. Adam Gilchrist (100 in 42 Balls)

In the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Adam Gilchrist made his name to the top after smashing the fastest 100 against Mumbai Indians.

IPL has been Postponed to April 15th due to Corona-Virus

 March 14, 2020     1 comment

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will not begin on March 29 as per the existing schedule. The tournament is being postponed to April 15th.

The BCCI is concerned & sensitive about all its stakeholders, and public health in general, and it is taking all necessary steps to ensure that all people related to IPL.

A meeting of the IPL's governing council is scheduled for Saturday in Mumbai. Before that meeting, the office-bearers of the Board and members of the governing council were expected to meet all franchises of the league and other important stakeholders to chart out the way forward.

The postponement will allow the BCCI to reassess that situation too. If the tournament can be held from mid-April onwards, then there is time now to work on the visas. Remember, the IPL cannot be held without overseas players. That's a condition every franchise will put on paper regardless of anything else," sources added.

The IPL will be played behind closed doors, to empty stands. The order from the central sports ministry on the matter stands.

Top all-rounders from each Teams in the IPL

 March 13, 2020     2 comments

Kings XI Punjab | K Gowtham

K Gowtham has a fantastic opportunity to establish himself as a top all-rounder in IPL 2020. Kings XI Punjab does not have too many options in this department and Gowtham is likely to get a long run.

After a good IPL season in 2018 for Rajasthan Royals, Gowtham failed to do the same in 2019. However, he is coming off a good domestic season and will be raring to go in the IPL. While he is a street-smart customer with the ball, Gowtham's hitting ability will be something to watch out for.

Sunrisers Hyderabad | Mohammad Nabi

Due to the presence of some strong overseas players in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, Mohammad Nabi hasn't got the opportunities he deserves. Nevertheless, Nabi has made the most of whatever chances that have come his way.

Apart from being extremely tidy with the ball, the Afghan all-rounder has proved his worth with the bat by hitting some lusty blows in the latter half of the innings.

Delhi Capitals | Axar Patel

Axar Patel was counted once one of the most bright upcoming all-rounders in the country. He was extremely economical with the ball, Patel made useful contributions with the bat.
But his performance in the IPL has been steady. The Gujarat all-rounder played 14 games for Delhi Capitals last season and fared well with the ball. If he can contribute more with the bat, he can become indispensable for Delhi Capitals.

Rajasthan Royals | Ben Stokes

Rajasthan Royals has been hugely dependent on their overseas players in the past few seasons. And this was a major reason for the team's dismal show last season as Ben Stokes, one of the key members of Rajasthan's overseas contingent, failed miserably.

Stokes looked awfully out of form last season. In the 9 matches he played in IPL 2019, Stokes scored just 123 runs and picked up 6 wickets. However, the Englishman has been in top form ever since. Stokes proved in the World Cup the impact he can make both with the bat as well as with the ball. Royals' chances will be hinging on Stokes' performance in the series.

Royal Challengers Banglore | Chris Morris

In a bid to put an end to their miseries in the IPL, Royal Challengers Banglore made wholesome changes to their last year's squad. One of the key players that they roped in at the auction was Chris Morris.

The South African has already showcased his big-hitting abilities in the IPL during his time with Delhi Capitals. Morris' IPL career strike-rate of 157.62 is a testimony to his big-hitting ability.

Despite picking up 13 wickets in 9 games, Morris did not have the best of seasons in the IPL in 2019, especially with the bat, but he is coming off a fruitful season with Sydney Thunders in the Big Bash League and can be the player who can turn RCB's fortunes in the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings | Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is one of the most experienced all-rounders in the tournament. CSK skipper, MS Dhoni, has used Jadeja to strangle the batsmen in the middle-overs and the 31-year old has responded well by bowling some tight spells.

The most heartening thing for CSK fans is Jadeja's reinvention as a batsman. Jadeja has played some blinders for India in the past year and if he can do the same in the IPL, he can be the top player of the season for Chennai.

Mumbai Indians | Hardik Pandya

One player who should be credited for Mumbai Indians' title victory last year is Hardik Pandya. Pandya was sensational with the bat last season and played some match-defining innings for Mumbai Indians. The 26-year old scored 402 runs in 16 matches at an average of 44.66 and a high strike-rate of 191.42.

The Baroda all-rounder was effective with the ball too picking up 14 wickets. Pandya has struggled with injuries in the past year but has gained full fitness and will look to get back in top form ahead of the all-important World T20.

Kolkata Knight Riders | Andre Russell

Kolkata Knight Riders had a season to forget last year as the team failed to make it to the play-offs. But one player who did no harm to his reputation of being an out and out match-winner was Andre Russell.

Russell was unstoppable with the bat last year and snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat on multiple occasions for KKR. The Jamaican smashed 510 runs at an outstanding average of 56.66 and a jaw-dropping strike-rate of 204.81.

He picked up crucial wickets with the ball too and ended up with 11 wickets in 14 matches. He was also named the most valuable player of the tournament. KKR will hope that Russell repeats his last year's heroics this year too.

Top 5 IPL players who were banned for weird reasons in IPL seasons

 March 12, 2020     3 comments

In the IPL History, each season has known as with its special moments, rumors & news. Here is the list of 5 players who were banned in the IPL seasons.

1. Harbhajan Singh

The inaugural edition of the cash-rich league witnessed one of the most bizarre incidents when Harbhajan Singh slapped S Sreesanth on the field.

After the two sides’ clash on the field, handshakes transpired between them while the Kerala speedster copped a slap from the Punjab spinner after the former go to his nerves during the encounter. Harbhajan received fines for his actions as well as suspensions. Along with this, BCCI also suspended him for five ODIs.

2. Pravin Tambe

Pravin Tambe was the one who genuinely justified the saying “age is just a number”, having been picked up by the Rajasthan Royals in 2013 at the age of 42. The leg-spinner also had the goods to back up his inclusion, picking up 15 wickets in 2014 for Rajasthan. Post that; he also picked up 28 and 33 wickets for Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

As per the regulations from the Indian cricket Board, an active cricketer cannot participate in a foreign tournament without having their permission. The BCCI had no knowledge about his withdrawal about his retirement and T10 participation, thereby ruling him out of the competition.

3. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is one of the many players who made his name under Shane Warne as their mentor. The then coach and captain Shane Warne took him under his wings in the draft after the U-19 World Cup 2008 and played for Rajasthan Royals, delivering promising performances.

Jadeja also bargained about his fees with not only Rajasthan Royals but also the other teams. And it became a reason why Jadeja couldn’t play in 2010.

4. Mohammad Asif

Mohammad Asif was one of the best bowlers of his era before his career came to a halt due to his participation in the spot-fixing controversy.

The Pakistani seamer copped a ban due to the consumption of a drug named Nandrolone, which is prohibited. The drug was found while collecting his urine sample because of which he lost his contract with the franchise consequently. Post the first season; all Pakistan players were barred from participating in the league.

5. Luke Pomersbach

Things took a turn for the worse when a woman accused the Australian of sexually assaulting her and handing a beating to her fiance. Subsequently, he got arrested by the Delhi police.

Australian batsman Luke Pomersbach had been playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012 and experienced a hot and cold season with them.

Top 5 bowlers who could win the Purple Cap in the IPL 2020

 March 12, 2020     No comments

In This Indian Premier League season would be best for bowlers The Indian pitches are considered to be spinner-friendly as most of the surfaces are low, slow and offer a fair bit of turn. But in the 12 editions of the IPL so far, only two spinners have won the Purple Cap.

Former Indian left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha did it in the third edition of the tournament in 2010, while South African leggie Imran Tahir took the honors in the previous edition in 2019.

1. Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir is one of the leading leg-spinners going around in white-ball cricket, but the surface in Chennai also helps him a lot. The pitch at the M.Chidambaram stadium offers him a lot of purchase.

Tahir is not a loopy leg-spinner. He hardly gives the ball any air, but he generates quite a lot of turn despite not necessarily getting the ball up and down. Since he is so quick through the air, it’s hard for the batsmen to come down the pitch against him with any sort of conviction.

Tahir won the Purple Cap in IPL 2019 and will be in contention to retain it this year. He is a sure starter for CSK and will be playing most of the games on a surface which is tailor-made for him.

2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Top wicket-taker for SRH and India medium-pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the expected retained players for them for the 2019 edition.

He was retained for a price of Rs. 8.5 crores for the upcoming event by SRH. Bhuvneshwar has a massive haul of 133 wickets at a mightily impressive strike rate of 18.81 in the IPL matches he has played so far.

With an exceptional control on line and length and swing bowling, Bhuvneshwar is one of the top threats for opening batsmen across the circuit. Along with Rashid Khan, he is sure to provide nail-biting moments for opposition think tanks in the 2019 edition as well.

3. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has not been in the greatest of form since his comeback from a stress fracture, but he is a world-class bowler and is always going to be one of the contenders for the Purple Cap, given the fact that he is a wicket-taker at any stage of the innings.

Bumrah bowls at the death for Mumbai Indians in all the games and the reason why he is a nightmare for any batsman at the death is the length that he bowls. Bumrah is quick through the air which obviously helps, but the consistency with which he finds the block-hole is incredible.

4. Lasith Malinga

Malinga is a three-time championship winner and ‘Slinga Malinga’ will be back in the 12th season purely as a bowler. There is always excitement when Malinga marks his run-up and slings his arm to release the white ball.

He entered the auction and as expected, MI lapped him up for INR 2 crore. Malinga enters the tournament having led Sri Lanka’s T20 team in the recently concluded series in South Africa.

Malinga is the leading wicket-taker so far with the Purple Cap he has taken 170 so far and waiting this season for many more.

5. Mohammad Shami

IPL is generally about big-hitting and high-scoring games, but it’s the bowlers who make the decisive impact eventually. It has hardly happened over the years that a bowler with the Purple Cap hasn’t been able to drive his team into the playoffs of the IPL.

The Indian pitches are considered to be spinner-friendly as most of the surfaces are low, slow and offer a fair bit of turn. But in the 12 editions of the IPL so far, only two spinners have won the Purple Cap.

In this summer season be the witness of the colors of ipl fantasy sports game.
